Tiwa Savage, a popular Nigerian singer, has explained why she does not sign up-and-coming artists.
In an interview with Forbes Africa, the singer stated that she lacks the “gift” of managing the behavior of emerging artists.
The 45-year-old went on to say that she would rather build a music school where aspiring singers could learn and eventually be signed by any label.
“Everyone always asks when you plan to sign an artist. I don’t believe I have the ability to sign artists because they are stressful. I could just wake up from a nap, and my favorite artist is trending for something else.
“But I have the ability to help, which is why I’m attempting to establish a music school where artists can attend and later sign with a label that can actually help.”
