Sowore and his legal team accompany Lagos Corper Raye to a disciplinary meeting

Omoyele Sowore, a presidential candidate and activist, has thrown his support behind embattled Lagos corps member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, also known as Raye, as she prepares to face disciplinary action for her viral video criticizing the Tinubu administration.
Raye, who represents the Eti-Osa Local Government Area in Lagos, sparked outrage after criticizing Tinubu’s government for rising inflation and describing Lagos as a “smelly state.”
After refusing to remove the video, she was summoned to meet with her Local Government Inspector (LGI), reportedly for disciplinary action.
In a show of solidarity, Sowore and his legal team met with Raye and escorted her to the LGI office. He posted a video to his X page, updating followers on the situation.
“The journey with youth corper, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, has commenced in Lagos. She is scheduled to appear before the LGI today, and we will escort her to their offices. We are all en route with attorneys. @mrfestusogun @yinka_oyesomi and @justiceojienoh,” he captioned the post.
The case has elicited mixed reactions, with some applauding Raye’s bravery and others questioning the appropriateness of her remarks as a serving corps member.
More information about the outcome of the meeting is expected.
