Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has filed a defamation suit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio for making disparaging remarks about her.
According to the lawsuit filed in the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s lawyer stated that a post shared on the Facebook page of a user named “Patrick” implied that the senator is more concerned with makeup and transparent outfits than legislative duties.
He characterized these assumptions as defamatory and damaging to her reputation.
Senator Natasha is seeking a court declaration that the statement was defamatory, an injunction to prevent further publications, and ₦100 billion in damages plus ₦300 million for litigation costs.
The lawsuit comes days after a video circulated online showing Senate President Godswill Akpabio ordering the removal of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, from the Senate chamber, resulting in a scuffle.
The Kogi senator has since been referred to the Senate Disciplinary Committee for the incident.
