Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was arrested for allegedly violating the terms of his supervised release from prison.
The 28-year-old’s arrest was made under a warrant from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, with a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
Details on the alleged violations were not provided.
6ix9ine rose to fame in 2017 with his hit Gummo and was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release in December 2019 after pleading guilty to racketeering, firearms, and drug trafficking charges.
He originally faced up to 47 years in prison but received a reduced sentence for cooperating with authorities and testifying against gang members.
In April 2020, he was released early to house arrest due to health concerns related to COVID-19.
