R Kelly, a convicted American R&B musician, was recently hospitalized upon his release from prison.
The musician was brought to Duke University Hospital on Friday, June 13, after reportedly collapsing at the federal penitentiary complex in Butner, North Carolina.
His lawyer revealed that the 58-year-old convicted sex trafficker was hospitalized after overdosing on medical medicines administered by a jail officer.
According to Media Star News, R Kelly’s lawyer claimed in a fresh court document on Monday that the singer had been placed in solitary confinement on June 10 and given medication by a jail official.
“On June 13, Kelly felt faint and fell to the ground when he attempted to stand up. He crawled to the cell door and lost consciousness. At the hospital, he discovered that he had been given an overdose of his prescriptions, which endangered his life, according to the most recent court documents.
The legal filing accused cops of denying R Kelly surgery despite a surgical consultation.
During the ambulance trip to the hospital, the singer allegedly overheard a prison official say, “This is going to open a whole new can of worms”.
According to Media Star News, Kelly’s lawyer filed an emergency request alleging that three Bureau of Prisons personnel are scheming to have him assassinated by another inmate.
The motion sought that the musician, who is presently serving a 30-year sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking, be freed to home confinement.
