Lara Trump announced on Sunday that she would step down from her role as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), stating that her work was complete following the November election, which saw her father-in-law, Donald Trump, return to the presidency and the GOP take control of the House and Senate.

Trump praised the RNC’s achievements during her tenure, including setting fundraising records and ensuring fair elections.

Her resignation coincides with speculation that she could replace Sen. Marco Rubio in Florida, who has been nominated as Secretary of State.

If Rubio’s nomination is confirmed, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would appoint a temporary replacement.

Lara Trump has expressed openness to a new role and has received support from GOP Senators Lindsey Graham and Katie Britt.
