A woman who was left with surgical scars on her chest proudly shared her new look after embracing them.
Saskia Clark had a bilateral neck dissection, with doctors removing 204 cancerous lymph nodes, as well as open-heart surgery to remove a tumor in her chest.
After surviving the procedures, Saskia documented her journey on TikTok, where she frequently received comments about her scars.
When asked how she feels, she told Need to Know: “Surprisingly, the scars do not bother me at all.
“I believe that going through something like this changes your perspective; things feel much more real, and caring about my appearance is not at the top of my priority list.
“I do believe, however, that as women, there is a lot of emphasis and stigma attached to our appearance, particularly after cancer, and especially now with social media and younger generations wearing makeup as young as nine.
“I wanted to show how there’s no need to be scared about it, that it’s something to be proud of and to embrace because, ultimately, we only get one body and one life, and we need to be kind to it.”
