A bride’s father’s advice to her groom during their wedding has sparked online debate after he stated that it is not a wife’s responsibility to cook.
In a viral post that circulated on X (formerly Twitter), the father emphasized that while a wife may choose to cook for her husband out of love and goodwill, it should not be viewed as an obligation.
He went on to explain that cultural norms should not require women to cook, nor should husbands expect meals as a right.
He warned the groom against having an entitled attitude, telling him not to frown or demand food as if it was his right.
Instead, he encouraged appreciation for a wife’s efforts, emphasizing that she does so willingly and for the sake of Allah’s mercy.
His statement reads:
“Don’t believe in what our culture promotes—that as the husband and head of the family, you should come home, frown, and demand, ‘Where’s my food?’”
“Who told you she has to cook for you? Nowhere, nobody. She does it out of her own volition because she wants to make you happy and seek Al-Jannah.”
The post quickly gained traction, drawing reactions from social media users who flooded the comment section with their opinions.
