Rescue operations continued for a second day in Unity Township, Pennsylvania, where a sinkhole is believed to have swallowed 64-year-old Elizabeth Pollard, who was searching for her cat.

Pollard was last seen on Monday around 5 p.m. near the Union Restaurant.

Authorities found her car, with her granddaughter inside, near the sinkhole.

A camera lowered into the hole on Wednesday revealed a shoe, though it wasn’t confirmed if it belonged to Pollard.

The area is complicated by an abandoned mine, which has become dangerous due to potential subsidence.

More than 100 people are involved in the search, with additional support from construction equipment and mining experts.

The community remains hopeful as the rescue efforts persist.
