At the MTV Europe Music Awards, host Rita Ora paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Liam Payne, remembering the former One Direction star as a kind-hearted person who made a lasting impact on those around him.
Ora described Payne, who tragically fell from a hotel balcony in Argentina in October, as “one of the kindest people” she knew and praised his generosity and ability to bring joy to any room.
Following her tribute, a montage of photographs played alongside the One Direction song “Night Changes.”
During the ceremony, Taylor Swift won Best Artist, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” took Best Song, and Ariana Grande, Tyla, and Liam Gallagher received awards for Best Pop, Afrobeats, and Rock, respectively.
Other winners included Peso Pluma (Best Latin), Jimin (Best K-pop), Imagine Dragons (Best Alternative), Calvin Harris (Best Electronic), and Eminem (Best Hip-hop).
