Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of Elon Musk-owned social media company X (previously Twitter), has stepped down after two years in the position.

Yaccarino announced her resignation in a tweet on Wednesday, but did not provide a precise reason for her departure.

However, she stated that the company was entering “a new chapter” following its recent acquisition by Musk’s artificial intelligence firm, xAI.

Yaccarino announced his resignation as CEO of 𝕏 after two years in the position.

“When #elonmusk and I first discussed his vision for X, I knew it would be an incredible opportunity to carry out the company’s exceptional goal.

“I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.”

Yaccarino applauded the X team’s efforts, highlighting the progress made in rebuilding advertiser trust and addressing user safety.

“I’m really proud of the X team; the unprecedented business turnaround we’ve achieved together is nothing short of miraculous.

“We began with the essential early work required to ensure the safety of our users, particularly minors, and restore advertiser confidence.

“This team has worked tirelessly to bring the most famous voices and content to the platform, beginning with innovative ideas such as Community Notes and, eventually, X Money.

“Now, the best is yet to come as X enters a new chapter with #xai,” she told me.

She hailed the site as “truly a digital town square for all voices and the world’s most powerful culture signal,” noting that it would not have been possible without users, commercial partners, and the team.

Musk, the world’s richest man who also runs Tesla and SpaceX, hired Yaccarino as CEO in May 2023, shortly after acquiring the platform, then known as Twitter, for $44 billion.

Yaccarino, a former advertising executive at NBC Universal, officially took over in June 2023, succeeding Musk, who had served as interim CEO following the takeover.
