Three people have been charged in connection with the October 16 death of 31-year-old singer Liam Payne in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The charges include abandonment of a person after death and the supply and facilitation of narcotics.
One suspect is said to have accompanied Payne daily in the city, while another, a hotel employee, is accused of supplying him with cocaine.
A third person is charged with supplying drugs to Payne two days before his death.
Following a two-week investigation, which involved raids, toxicology tests, and analysis of Payne’s phone, it was revealed that Payne died after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony.
The injuries were consistent with the fall, and there was no evidence of foul play.
Payne’s system contained alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant, leading investigators to believe he was either partially or fully unconscious during the fall.
The investigation included testimonies from hotel staff, family, friends, and medical professionals, as well as over 800 hours of security footage.
Authorities also examined Payne’s phone for clues.
Payne, formerly of the globally successful pop group One Direction, is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear, his parents, and his sisters.
