Dr. Dre has won a legal victory against his former marriage counselor, Dr. Charles Sophy, who sued him for harassment in October 2023.
Sophy claimed that Dre engaged in a campaign of harassment, including threats, intimidation, homophobic language, and late-night texts.
The lawsuit also sought a permanent restraining order against Dre.
However, Judge Melanie Ochoa ruled that Sophy failed to meet the necessary legal burden to justify the order, leading to the termination of the temporary restraining order.
Sophy’s lawsuit alleged that Dre began sending threatening texts in February 2023, one of which warned Sophy that he would “pay” for something disturbing.
Sophy also claimed that fake FBI agents tried to enter his home, causing him to fear for his safety and wear a bulletproof vest.
Dre’s lawyer, Mark King, argued that Sophy filed the lawsuit after failing to have a complaint against him dropped, which accused Sophy of incompetence and urged the revocation of his medical license.
King also claimed that Sophy was fired for encouraging one of Dre and Nicole Young’s children to take sides against Dre and make false allegations to the press in an attempt to force a financial settlement.
